Do game stores get copies of special edition games early?

Me and my friend were talking about the new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Prestige Edition. The game set comes with the night vision goggles for 150 bucks, as well as the game, art book, download code for the original Call of Duty, and a statue to put the goggles on. My friend works at a game store where he lives, and he told me he already had received a copy of the Prestige Edition goggles to try out, and he said they are junk. I would like to know if game stores actually are able to do that or not, and if so, how good the goggles from MW2 actually are.

Most do only like a week before a BIG release game comes out to ensure they have enough to cover pre-orders. I dount he is trying out the goggles since he’s have to break open one of the games to do it.

    Can’t believe everything someone says
