Digital Video Camera with Night Vision?
I'm looking for a reasonably good digital video camera/recorder with night vision that can ideally record more than an hour (maybe two) before needing to have the data removed. Being efficient on batteries would be good, too, but not as necessary. Also, I'm looking for something not terribly expensive, which I realize sets up a bit of a "you get what you pay for" scenario, but I cannot afford to spend too much here. Any suggestions?

Any Sony camcorder with the NightShot or SuperNightShot or NightShot Plus modes. This means there is a built-in infrared emitter (that other camcorder manufacturers do not include) for zero-light monochrome video capture.
The DCR-HC52 and HC62 have it. As miniDV tape based camcorders, your computer will need a firewire port for video importing from the tape. Not USB (for USB streaming). If your computer has no firewire port, hopefully it has an available expansion slot so you can add one. USB-to-firewire cable/hub/adapter/converters won’t work.
MiniDV tapes come in 60 minute and 80 minute SP record times. LP is not recommended.
No camcorder comes with a high capacity battery in the box with the camcorder – get an optional high capacity battery for additional battery power.
